Replacing a laptop's motherboard with a Raspberry Pi

Sat Feb 08, 2020 6:33 pm

Hi Everyone, I'm new to electronics and such, but I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X260 with a dead motherboard. It would be nice to be able to remove its internals, keep the screen and the keyboard, then put in a Raspberry Pi and wire up the screen/keyboard/power buttons etc to the Pi.

Can anyone point me in the right direction with this, particularly with finding whether the screen/keyboard in the X260 is wired with standard HDMI/USB cables, and if so, tutorials on wiring these to the Pi would be very useful.

The screen will require a LVDS Board specific to the actual manufacturer of the screen.

The other various ports you will likely have to be custom re-wired.

...and not likely a good project for any beginner in electronics....

Come to me with 'problems' and I'll help you find solutions"

Similar level of difficulty as someone who hasn't even repaired a bicycle puncture replacing the engine in a car with an engine from a motorcycle?
