Preventing screen shutoff

Tue Dec 31, 2019 3:27 pm

I got a new mini-projector, and wrote a Processing sketch for my Pi Zero-W to display some continuously-changing art on my otherwise-bare ceiling. It's beautiful. But the Pi shuts off the feed to the projector after ten minutes or so, which ruins it.

The projector remains on and the Processing sketch remains running -- all I have to do is touch any key on the keyboard and the projection springs back to life. Is there any way to jog it periodically somehow so I don't have to keep hitting a key, which utterly defeats the purpose? I don't think it's a projector issue, because the projector remains on.

There is now a menu option in raspi-config to disable / enable screen blanking.

Code: Select all

sudo raspi-config
Advanced menu A6
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Buster w/ Desktop OS.

It worked like a charm. Wish I would've known about this sooner. Screen kept turning off while I was playing games on Retropie. I could hear the sound still too. Controller didn't work to wake it up .
