Raspberry Pi 4 1 or 2GB

Fri Sep 13, 2019 2:46 pm

Hi;

We are buying some Pi 4s for our Pi Jam.
Just checking, is the 1GB versions OK? e.g. is this enough base memory for things like Scratch, Python Rolling Robots, Minecraft etc. We will not be running high level graphics just projects for children / adults at the monthly Pi Jam.

Thanks

Honestly, get the 2GB if you intend to use Chromium for webbrowsing browsing and possibly Scratch3. EDIT, definitely get 2GB is you intend to use Scratch3, see the blog release post for why /EDIT
That's if you can afford the £10 extra.
Don't forget some shops may do discount for Jam, Makerspaces, education

Python and Minecraft will be fine with the 1GB version, but 2GB does give more headroom in the future.
