Official RPi 7" Touch LCD calibration with Raspbian Lite

Fri Sep 06, 2019 8:36 am

Trying to calibrate the 7" touch screen under Stretch Lite.
Linux 4.19.66-v7+ #1253 SMP Thu Aug 15 11:49:46 BST 2019 armv7l

I'm using a GUI program Ham Clock from http://www.clearskyinstitute.com/ham/HamClock/.

The graphics are ok and they use 800x480. However when I touch the screen, the pointer is not at the touch point.
Tried to set the following in /boot/config.txt but make no difference.

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=rpi-ft5406, touchscreen-size-x=800, touchscreen-size-y=480
Framebuffer also set to 800 x 480

Any ideas please?

I have the same issue and hopefully someone can help.

I also have other issues and wondering if you're experiencing the same ones:

1. The program will run if I run the lowest resolution, but only in command line interface and not in the desktop. Does yours run in the desktop environment?

2. While the program is running, I have a blinking cursor on the bottom left and when it updates in the background, the code pops up for a millisecond or so. Do you have the same issue?

Thanks,

George

Hi,

I also installed Hamclock and have the same issue with the 7" Raspberry Pi official screen.

By the way, I also have two other issues and wondering if you are experiencing them also.

1. Unable to run Hamclock in the desktop environment. I have to reboot into the command line and able to run at the lowest resolution, 800x480. Are you able to run it in the desktop?

2. While the program is running, I have a blinking cursor on the bottom left and with that, I notice the code running in the background shows up for about a millisecond or so. Do you have the same issue?

If had these issues and resolved them, could you share your fixes?

Thank you!

Update, I ran the following code, sudo apt-get -y install make g++ libx11-dev, and was able to run Hamclock in the desktop environment.

The only two problems I have are:

1. Desktop time is flashing through Hamclock.

2. Hamclock code pops up for a millisecond or so in the background.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi George,

Raspbian Lite does not have a GUI desktop. I wanted to use a minimal environment, hence Lite.

Yes, sometimes I do see text at the bottom lefthand corner. It's rare so I don't worry about it.
