Wireless SSD storage?

Wanting to set up a SSD equipped Pi 3B+ that I can use to wirelessly store and retrieve files between several Windows and Mac. Instead of using a thumb drive, I've been using Dropbox to do this. Don't need or want internet access to this storage. Probably easy as Pi but need someone to point me in the right direction... What is such a system called?

You are looking at a NAS solution such as https://nextcloud.com/athome/ and just using this in your network.

If it’s only a simple sharing task then you could use SAMBA to share folders though you may have to fiddle around due to Windows network changes. https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/samba-file-server/

You can also use sftp or scp to copy files back and forth between your Pi and another machine.

No need to install anything else. (My version of Windows 10 has sftp/scp/ssh built in. I'm not sure about Mac OS).

Nextcloudpi image is what you want to use, works just like Dropbox, and you can easily use it to keep files updated across all machines. I use it to keep my keepass database updated across all my devices, works like a charm. Flash the nextcloudpi image to your sd card and off you go, can't say enough about nextcloudpi.
