SMS seems to be gaining in importance; one example is that recently Google, Microsoft and Netflix all asked me for a number for them to send SMS verifications- not email and not landline.
I was a bit surprised at the lack of interest here in using the Pi for texting. It seems a good use for any older Pi and of course a reasonable keyboard is beyond ergonomic.
