Copy content of image to sd card instead of whole image

I managed to mount the image file, thank you, AndrewS. But just copying the files to the partitions of my sd card will not work, I guess. There are numerous ELF- and BIN files, which have to be copied in a special way.

How do I proceed to install arch from the content of the image to a 6 gig sd card instead of dd'ing the whole image with its only 2 gigs?

I'm sure it's possible but awkward, why not just dd the 2GB over and then resize the partition to fill the card? That's what I did. Is there a reason you aren't doing that which I've missed?

Yes, very bad experience with SD cards. Most don't work properly, even recently bought ones. On my 16 gig Transcend it takes ages to resize a partition :-(. Formatting them works, however.

It only takes a couple of minutes to resize a partition with gparted.

That's interesting - it's basically the sort of thing that I have been recommending - that is, copying files out of the image to the card. Gives you more control over what you are doing.

I just have one question, though. What is "copy"? Did you mean "cp"?
