Case looks good, if you have some proper 3d cad drawings i could work out a price per case, I would happily pay for a tool if enough people were interested.

I could get it made in any material even see through or smoked cases.

(Black would be very cheap)

I'm UK based so could no expensive shipping over weeks from China etc.

I see them being very cheap as it wont be much material in it, should be able to produce around 5,000 a week, post for free, any colour long as meet minimum batch sizes, changable logos etc

getting excited as i want one now!!

I think that they are too much features for such a little object. Maybe there could be a more complex version of the case, including some fixing capabilities, but… what about a simple piece of bi-adhesive tape?


- I'm not sure how you've mounted the board inside, but as there are no holes on the board you'll need to make sure it's secure



The board is fixed by a sort of snap-fits. I'm confident it's secure enough, but I'll be more precise after prototyping it.


- Transparent / opaque case



I managed to make it available on Shapeways, where you can choose the materials and some colours (transparent is available, even if I think it's expensive).

But I designed it having plastic moulding in mind, so it would be fantastic if it were really produced in moulded plastic.


- A flap or slot so you can get at the SD card


Uhm… the SD card is completely accessible through the bottom slot. I find a cover a useless complication.




Just a few ideas to consider, but really like the design of the case!

I think that I could consider it finished, but of course I want to test a real prototype (all these are renderings) with a real board before releasing it.

Sheer genius how the clip -ins use the flex in the long sides to allow you to easily insert and remove the Pi!

I like the no screws approach very much, I forget the number of times I've dropped a small screw onto a live mobo or other board... Horror of horrors! Glad all those kids that get to screw around with the R-Pi will be spared that ordeal.

This is really the best case design I have seen, by far, simple, sturdy and sexy.

Not so easy to remove, but easier and faster than screw mounting. Anyway this is the only way I had in mind. There are no holes for screws, so there is no choice.0


This is really the best case design I have seen, by far, simple, sturdy and sexy.

Re the light guides, what do they actually show? I can only see a power LED on the board but I'm pretty sure I'm missing something!

How about this as a ready-made case - add a suitable LCD panel in front /place of the speaker in the monitor. It already has a built-in radio andaudio amplifier....

I had an idea last night, why not rip apart a USB 104 keyboard and see if it could be squeezed into one, a 4 port Powered USB hub would have to go in also. The keyboard could be hardwired to the hub leaving 3 ports. I suppose the concept is very similar to the OLD 8bit computer consoles of the 70-80's. Effectively all you carry around is the keyboard and a small 5v - 2A switching plug plack/wallwart. I realise not every application would require a keyboard but there are so many times R-Pi's will be attached to keyboards it might work.
