Yep, you're right. The demo was broken. I've gone ahead and fixed that, and in the process I rolled out the new update that is due to be launched today or tomorrow (depending on how quickly we resolve the unittest issues).

There is however a limit on uploading assets, which is currently set to 5MB.

I`m using now with version .1 hd movie-files of 50Mb and more. I hope this wil be possible.

No that's just for the demo-site.

Great news! The new Screenly User Interface is now available.

To upgrade, simply run the following command:

(Just running the upgrade-script won't work if you have an older version).

We've also made it easier to install Screenly OSE by providing a pre-configured image for Screenly. You would install it just like you would with the regular Raspbian Wheezy-image.

Complete noob but following your instructions I have images and video including converted powerpoint presentations working really nicely. Two questions, is it easy to set image duration times to other than those on the drop down box.I have some 'slides' of text which take more than 10secs to read on screen but 15 secs seems too long when watching.Secondly is there a simple way to change the order of different presentations? I currently have 6 different assets stored but would like to build a library of about 15 and change the active assets (using the on/off) but also their order from time to time.

Not sure I follow. You can set the duration to whatever you'd like. The duration is for each individual asset, so you do not need to use the same duration on all assets.

Secondly is there a simple way to change the order of different presentations?

Currently the way to dod this is to name the assets with a number sequence (ie. 001_slide1, 002_slide2 etc). There is however an open ticket on this (https://github.com/wireload/screenly-ose/issues/60) that we'll get to eventually.

Yes, we are aiming for a launch at the end of this month.

The workflow has been similar to what we did to OSE. First we built a working prototype, and then we went back and re-designed it to be more user friendly and appealing.

Right now we are in the middle of this re-designing process of Pro. We now have a fair number of developers working on it so we are progressing faster than OSE, but it is also a more complex product.

Once we have the product ready, I will post an update here as well as on http://wireload.net/news

Is there any way to config Screenly via internet since direct network access is not possible. What I have in mind is a simple playlist somewhere which Screenly would retrieve.

We have just installed security updates for the Pi system (it is at 3.6.11+) which seems to have disabled the interface at port 8080.

This is not too tragic, since the system still keeps doing what we want - displaying a particular JPG at a particular URL, and the JPG itself can be swapped out - but clearly we'd like our interface page back!

Screenly seems to run fine, and we have applied updates to it as per the documentation pages without issue. But no interface available - web browsers see no server at that location.

Please advise if you can give us any help on this! Thank you.

If you did the upgrade, make sure you run the following command:

Great Job on Screenly-OSE! I'm looking forward to the Pro version!

I have 4 TVs configured as digital signs. Most recently in our lobby.

When installing the newest one, I noticed that the user interface for screenly has really come a long way, so I removed and re-downloaded/installed the screenly on two of the other three installs.

One works fine. The other boots and runs screenly but gets an error on the screenly schedule overview page that says "Server Error: table assets has no column named nocache".

I removed the screenly and screenly_assets folder and re-downloaded and installed but I still get the same error. Apparently there is a database table somewhere that still exists but lacks a field and it doesn't get replaced or modified to include the new field during a standard install.

What's the best way to fix this?

It does sound like the migration script didn't run fully.

Go ahead and run the following command (which is documented in the upgrade guide):

That should take care of both installing the latest updates as well as running the required migrations.

Looks like screenly is owned by root and not the user pi.

I've pushed an update that resolves that. Just re-run the upgrade script again.

Thanks for your feedback on this - finally able to get back to this project today!
The screenly_viewer log shows no apparent problems - just informs me every 10 minutes that it is 'showing asset menu'. I had already done all upgrades and updates, with no error presented to me - just ending up with no interface at all.

As I say, this is not a huge issue as the system keeps doing the simple job required, but I guess we'll have to try a reinstallation at some point. Very odd.

It turned out that 'bottle.py' was broken, for whatever bizarre reason - only half the file was there. The interface is now up and running again!
