Looking for some Input Regarding Pi Zero

Wed Dec 11, 2019 9:57 pm

Greetings!

I'd like to run a Pi Zero with a small java process that captures 44k mono wave from an external sound card.

I have this working on a pi III and it's hardly touching the CPU.

Will a pi zero be okay for this?

I want it on a hardwired ethernet, so I assume I'll need a usb adapter, power supply, and ethernet adapter.

Sound about right?

What can you recommend?

Sincerely,

John

Is the difference between a Raspberry Pi Zero W and a Raspberry Pi Zero (no "W") the components it ships with? I really don't want any wireless on it at all ..

The difference is that the W has on-board WiFi. Nothing more.

BT, who uses that apart from the other Douglas?

Java doesn't work very well (at all?) on the Raspberry Pi Zero. You may have to install the Oracle version. But tbh, adding all the extra USB stuff will make the device as big and expensive as a Raspberry Pi 3B+.

I do, but he answers all the questions.

Try Chicago Electronic Distributors - https://chicagodist.com/ - a US based official reseller who also sells Pimoroni.

(disclosure: I used to work for the Canadian sister company of CED and the owner is still a good friend.)
