I'm wondering what the process is for deciding if an updated package should be included in a next release of Raspbian. The specific package that I'm wondering
about is the strongSwan VPN. Per https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/strongswan it looks like strongSwan 5.8.0-1 could/will be in a near-future release of Debian.
Does this mean that the new strongSwan will be picked up "automagically" when that Debian release pops out and a Raspbian release built on that Debian release is completed?
If not, is there any way to help improve the likelihood that it would be improved? I would of course be happy to contribute to the testing of said updated package.
My strongSwan management tool depends on 5.8 or later. Today I build strongSwan from source, which extends the install/config time from a few minutes to 30-45 minutes. Getting to strongSwan 5.8 or later on Raspbian will make VPN installation and configuration a snap!
