Trying further to fix the fbturbo missing problem:
Trying to install xserver-xorg-video-fbturbo fails as it says it has an unmet dependency of xorg-video-abi-23
I suppose I should mention my system has an official RPi touchscreen.
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
I can't, 'nano' seems to be giving me a 'hash sum mismatch'spl23 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:24 pmbensimmo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:02 pmPi3B+ (with SenseHAT attached).
BUG
WiFi connected and working.
When I click on the WiFi icon, it causes it to 'disassociate' and show the lines with red crosses. It actually does disassociate as the web page stop with an interruption.
It then re-establishes itself.
I don't think that should happen
Repeatable and happens after boot up and an apt update.
Do another apt update - this should be fixed with the latest version of raspi-config.
It didn't for me as it just failed the update lots with errors for some reason and I couldn't properly read or copy and paste them.spl23 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:32 pmYes, we froze the image for release last week, but have continued to push patches and fixes to apt in the meantime. If you boot a fresh image, the first boot wizard should pull all the patches in for you.fruitoftheloom wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:26 pmInstalled Buster fresh this morning and several updates already:
Code: Select all
sudo apt update sudo apt full-upgrade
Code: Select all
mount: can't read superblock on /dev/mmcblk0p1.
OK, still waiting ...
We don't support multiple desktop switching (it was removed in wheezy) so the tools to support it are not guaranteed to work in our image; use them at your own risk and don't expect them to be supported.
Just got a load of kernel updates but still no obconf. Tried changing that file but apt-get install claims "obconf is already the newest version (1:2.0.4+git20150213-2)."
But having just installed the plugin to try it, yes, that menu option does start obconf.
The new package doesn't seem to have updated on the servers yet - if you are in a hurry, just temporarily change /etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.list to access the stretch version of the repo and install it from there.
TBH, you might be the only person I know who uses multiple desktops. I always find them very clunky.PeterO wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 5:51 pm
I expect I said so at the time, but this is very short sighted ! And even more so now that the PI4 is capable of running more things at once and is being positioned as a PC replacement, then the lack of multiple desktops looks an even poorer decision.Just got a load of kernel updates but still no obconf. In your opinion; one with which, based on 25-odd years of user interface design experience, I happen to strongly disagree...
There will be a set of instructions in the blog post tomorrow which have been tested on a Pi running Stretch which successfully transformed it into one running Buster - you might want to wait for those.loadbang wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 6:14 pmI found this which is useful: https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-upgrade- ... -10-buster
Time for me to backup my Pi3 B+ that runs pihole and pivpn. See you on the other side. Hopefully my python 2.7 apps should be the only issue.
Nice. I've been looking forward to that. When will the Torrents be in place? I've added them to Transmission but get the error message "Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker" for all three Buster torrents.bensimmo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 8:01 amSo Buster has been released (with the Pi4)
it brings a few things with it,

You might be able to get a swap depending on who you got it from.stumpagness wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 8:13 amAs someone who bought a Pi 3B+ yesterday, and brand new to the platform, is there a known reason why IDLE Python IDE was removed? I have begun learning to write Python in exactly this tool. Are there better options? I have had some console output issues with Geany thus far. Apologies for the noob questions.
As for the Python IDE, we recommend Thonny, which has been part funded by us and is in the menus. It's a lot better than Idle. Well, we think so!
Using multiple monitors is not the same thing as multiple desk tops, and if you think they are then I suggest you please try to find some people that use both and watch how they work.
I'm amazed. I can't do without them. Here's my current desktop ... Three monitors and Four desktops. Not providing a useful feature simply because of some UI design dogma seems counter to the aims of the PI.
