hello everybody! I'm new to this and have a few questions I'm hoping you guys can answer for me. I'm attempting to create my own touch screen interface for my car. Something to control my heat and air as well as my stereo. It's an old car, very basic. Not like these new cars that all but drive themselves. I'm a controls engineer so I'm used to programming plc's and HMI's, so I'm not totally dumb here but this is different. So here are my questions.
1. Can the raspberry pi be programmed to interface with a touch screen?
2. if so, is it capable of receiving am / fm radio signals and bluetooth?
3. Can it be programmed to send outputs to relays? I would need 5-7 12vdc outputs to accomplish what I'm trying to do.

Bluetooth is built into the more modern Pi computers but it depends what you want to do with it.
Theoretically you could stream music via 4G to give you the radio or use a software defined radio USB box for this.
Relays can be done - depends on the relay switching needs as to the support circuit required. The Pio has lots of I/O that can be used.

Is you car less than 20 or so years old?
If yes then there is a good chance that it has an OBD2 port (on-board diagnostics) and a CANbus that you could hook in to to monitor and even trigger all sorts of things (with care of course).
Also - if you search around for "carputer" projects you might find that someone has already documented something that you could use.
