Touchscreen no display with Raspberry Pi 3 B

Sun Dec 09, 2018 12:24 am

Hi,

I cannot get my official touchscreen working with a Raspberry pi 3 b.
As pictured here;
https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/ra ... 3-model-b/

I've got the latest version of Raspbian, have tried powering both screen and pi with seperate power, have tried it with GPIO power pass through, nothing works, at no time do I get a display on the touchscreen.

If I plug an HDMI cable in the Pi is booting - though it constantly shows the 'high temperature' logo in the top right. It also seems to go on the internet ok to download upgrades (I've done sudo apt-get update, sudo apt-get upgrade and sudo rpi-update and they seem to connect ok) but the browser won't.

I've tried adding "ignore_lcd=0" to the end of config.txt - it seemed to come up from time to time - but that hasn't made a difference.

I've plugged my other Pi - a 3 B+ - in to the screen and that works just fine with the ribbon cable and seperate power supplies, so I know the display is ok.

I know I'm meant to do "dmesg | grep -i FT5406" or something, (I've read this viewtopic.php?t=122891) but I think I've reached the end of my knowledge, it's getting into long lines I can't recreate - (Incidentally I'm not 100% on how to type a | symbol?) - so could do with some help.

Is the Pi itself buggered perhaps?

it constantly shows the 'high temperature' logo in the top right.
Are you sure you're seeing the high temperature icon?

Yes, I believe so.

Took a photo of it for you. That's immediately after boot

Any help?

Firstly if it is overheating have you previously damaged your RPi SBC ??

The pi was working fine as far as I knew. It's been running Kano.
