Tue Nov 27, 2018 11:35 am

Hello.
In Pi3 it's impossible to see any video on YouTube and netflix. Any solution?

YouTube should be fine with the last couple of Stretch releases but may struggle with full screen video.

I've not seen anyone get Netflix to work on these forums.

What version of the OS and Pi do you have?

Netflix works through Rascas' Kodi 18 build:

I've also had it working in chromium in the past, but not anymore. I'm expecting it will start working again once it's updated.

I’d given up by then  I’ve got 6 months or so till my Prime membership is up as the stick gets me on, so plenty of time to let it come out of beta and try it.

Edit - last post on the thread dated today says it’s all broken again!

Netflix in Chromium does not work, it requires some proprietary codec libraries only available in Google Chrome. There is no Google Chrome build for Linux ARM. Don't bother buying ExaGear Desktop which promises that you will be able to run 32-bit x86 software, Google discontinued Chrome for 32-bit Linux and the last version available for 32-bit Linux is 48, meaning you're up to date as of early 2016.

There should be an addon for Kodi which allows it, or a Chromium plugin which lets you watch Netflix.

YouTube should work in Chromium out of the box.
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS desktop images for the Raspberry Pi 3.

You can get the necessary widevine libs from ChromeOS builds.

Last time I checked both my Android Smartphone and Asus ChromeBit run a flavour of Linux ARMHF.

thanks this does work on the pi 4.

problem is the 20-6-2019 rasbian buster image does not have chrome hw accelertion enabled, so netflix play back was slow choppy

on the 10-7-2019 rasbian buster image, this does have chrome hw accelertion enabled , and netflix play back is better but now has horizontal tearing.

hopefully there is a fix
