Micro display module suggestion and question about i2c interface.

Sat Nov 10, 2018 5:48 am

Hi everyone!
I'm a newbie in raspberry pi.

Today I would like to ask two questions.

1. Where can I find a micro display which is easy to install? I found these on element14.com:

https://my.element14.com/densitron/dd-1 ... 0000901686

https://my.element14.com/midas/mcot0960 ... stViewed_1

Or did everyone have any suggestions about micro display? I'm building a project which will use OHMD(Optical HMD) display technology.

2. Where can find more details about I2C Interface? the only thing I know about i2c is they are pins, and they can be manipulate by using programming languages(such as python).

Thanks in advance.
By the way this is my first time posting in here.
Sorry for my poor english.

Hi, thanks for the reply and the recommendation too... I would like to know does 32mm is the common dimensions for micro display?
Because I prefer as small as possible, and actually I don't know how small 32mm is...

Thanks in advance.

I would like to provide more information about my project, my project is an prototype AR device, the visual is produce from micro display (so I will require two micro displays) and then projected to two glasses. Finally the user is view through the glasses... so that why I need two micro display.

Wait for Microsoft's Hololens 2?
This stuff is hard to do, even the big guys are having a hard time.

Another 5-10 years and they will be cheaper?

In my opinion a needed break though is RGB VCSEL (low power lasers) or quantum dot phosphor + blue micro led arrays?
I have been waiting for micro displays since I read Gordon R Dickson's Tactics of Mistakes in the 1970's.
Many companies have tried to make them over the decades but they all seem to lack the killer app.

Yeah I think they will be cheaper later... especially when full immersion VR technology released.

I don't know about the difficulties. But will try my best, actually it is build for fun, I searched for many information few weeks ago... I even ask my teacher to provide permission to do a optical waveguide research, anyway my project is aim to build a 'as cheap as possible' AR device, my expectation is try to build with a 120 - 170 USD budget if it were possible...

There were many displays sell on alibaba.com, they sell their displays at a very cheap price, which make me feel untrustable to them...

Another difficulties is I'm planning to use Pi Zero... should I change to more powerful board? Pi zero were in lack of many things...

my project is aim to build a 'as cheap as possible' AR device
Use a mobile phone like VR googles, but use a 45 degree glass/plastic sheet.
ie mount smart phone at right angles, google "Pepper's ghost"

Play with angles and lenses?
Wide field of view means close to eye screen/lens, narrow field of view is easier.
One day flexible oled screens?

Two Zeros and two Hyper pixels, USB interfaces to a Pi3, basically using Zeros as externally GPU accelerators.

Big screens mean big lens :(

Never would have thought of that.
