I have seen YT videos and images showing the Pi running with GNOME 3 quite smoothly, but unfortunately, I can't find them at the moment. Maybe the version used in Debian is a modified version which is less resource hungry?fruitoftheloom wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 10:36 pm
I was not aware that Debian have released a fully functional Operating System for the RPi 3B:
https://wiki.debian.org/RaspberryPi
Gnome is resource hungry and will be slow, where is proof that Debian with Gnome is available, rather than rumour ?

I've found the blog post which shows a screenshot of the Pi running GNOME.
That's strange, it shows a screenshot of the Pi running GLXgears on the GNOME desktop environment and it looks quite smooth to me.fruitoftheloom wrote: ↑Sat Nov 03, 2018 8:34 amcode_exec wrote: ↑Sat Nov 03, 2018 7:23 amhttps://blog.michael.franzl.name/2016/1 ... pi-debian/

Though the Blog states:
""If you want to install a graphical user interface, I would suggest the light-weight LXDE window manager. Gnome is still too massive to run even on a GPU-accelerated Raspberry""
