WiFi and Updates problem

Mon Feb 19, 2018 12:39 am

Hello everybody.

Well I have a ZeroW where my BBS is running with some scripts for noip refresh and re-enabling mystic if something goes wrong.
All worked fine till some days ago, when my router reboots or just internet connection drops and returns my Pi is unresponsive through local telnet etc.
This is not happening on my Pi3.

Another issue is that I use the latest raspbian on my Pi3 and I saw this when I run the update:

Code: Select all

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt-get update
Hit:1 http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian stretch InRelease
Hit:2 http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian stretch InRelease
Reading package lists... Done
pi@raspberrypi:~ $
and on my Zero:

Code: Select all

pi@raspberrypi:~$ sudo apt-get update
Hit http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie InRelease
Hit http://archive.raspberrypi.org jessie InRelease
Hit http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/main armhf Packages

It looks like the Pi3 has much more recent software on it with the most recent version (stretch) while the zero still has the last version (jessie) and will need more updating because of its age. Wifi tends to drop with router outages on the RPis and you need to set up software to reboot or restart the wifi automatically when it drops.

Thanks for your answer.

I had tested some scripts in bashrc - rc.local that worked but not anymore.
Even the one in crontab stopped too.
Really don't know why it changes behavior.

It changes because the Debian devs change things...arbitrary but of course, for good reason. Your Jessie installation is overdue to be replaced by the current Stretch. Get it here on the "Downloads" page above.

I'll let zero as is, don't want to mess more the BBS.
As for 3 I will keep updating, maybe bluetooth will be fixed too.

After another update everything is back to "normal"
No bluetooth again.
