USB audio zoom h2

Sun Jul 15, 2012 8:10 pm

Hello can anyone help please? I'm trying to get sound out of my zoom u2 which is connected as an audio interface via USB. The pi sees it as 'card 1: H2 [H2], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio] when I type in aplay -l. Typing in modprobe snd-usb-audio has no effect, the sound still comes out of the headphone socket. If anyone could provide a step by step guide to set this up I'd be grateful. Thanks

try this

create /etc/asound.conf

Code: Select all

pcm.!default {
        type hw
        card 0
}

ctl.!default {
        type hw
        card 0
}
then either reboot or run
sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart
To pick up the config.

That should set the default alsa device to card 1.
most programs point to ALSAs default, so should work accross the board.

The type hw I picked up from here
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... =38&t=7000
to resolve stuttering issues and crackle in audio. May or may not work for your sound card.

Good luck

Just to clarify, are you using a ZOOM H2 http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h2/
as an external microphone ?
The ZOOM H2 was USB 1...(and very slow I always took the sd card out of it and put it in a card reader).

The OP says he is trying to get sound from the RPi via the H2 instead of the RPi's 3.5mm socket. The USB1 performance of the H2 (and H2n) should be adequate for that. (When operating as an SD card reader, the H2n operates in USB2 mode but 1.1 when in audio interface mode.)

Thanks for all your help - finally got this working. And yes, I was using the zoom h2 as an audio output rahter than a recording device. Thanks again

I would pm him, the chance that he happens to read here is vanishingly small.
