Hi, I've been looking into building a CCTV system, as our gate was set on fire, however I do not have a huge budget, and was looking into the PS3 eye cameras with the raspberry pi, it worked with one (using motioneye), however now that I have multiple, with all of the hardware IDs being mostly the same, I cannot use more than one, does anyone have a solution to this?

No they are USB 2.0 cameras, I've tried using both the inbuilt USB ports and a powered USB hub, when trying all 4, but for some reason motion pi cannot destinguish between each camera, regardless that in the root, when plugging each camera in each one has (video0, video1).

Does ZoneMinder differentiates the cameras ?? The PS3 Eye appears supported:

I'm not sure as I am unable to use Zoneminder, when attempting to install, I get 404 error when it tries to download some images which it needs, my first idea was Zoneminder, but I couldn't use it. I also have trouble with the StartX command where my raspberry pi would glitch out, I've tried re-installing raspian, but still facing the same problems.

Would it be best for this setup if I switch to Ubuntu on the raspberry pi?

It appears to of installed this time, with only a few errors, however I cannot get it to run with the startx command as the startx command makes my raspberry pi crash for some reason

Add a micro USB - USB converter and a Pi0W / camera?

Still limited to buying 1 at a time unfortunately.

Thanks, I'll use that since as it's quite cheap, do you reckon, if I bought 10 of these, one per camera and had each one broadcasting it in a local ip, I could then use the 3B and connect all of them as IP cameras, so I can have 1 interface with 10 cameras?

I would imagine that you could. I don't know if it can handle the data rate of 10 cameras simultaneously but cycling through one at a time should be fine.
you could implement motion detection on each Pi0 so that it could flag it's feed as higher priority if it has detected motion.

Another option is if you have some old android or iphones gathering dust in a cupboard is to use a free app like Alfred (link below)

You can tie them all together and monitor them through a web browser or app.

I have networked MotionEye OS and Pikrellcams, but night vision LEDs are still under construction.

I got one of these to try 4-5 camera system.

Still need a few more Zeros to fill it.
But dual use, normal cameras plus Noir with nighttime IR Leds and the networked mother Pi can control the power to each Zero

Still leaves 3 USB ports for webcams

I have tested a Zero W with Pikrellcam running on Jessie Lite.
Picamera software does have some motion array stuff if you want to roll your own.
The much smaller PiCore OS does work with the Picamera and may be used on the Zero's, if I can figure out the OTG stuff.
