Kratos
does this build start with VC4 & window mode?

Unfortunately, windowed mode does not work. It would require using the somewhat unstable GL driver. I messed around with windowed mode a while back just for fun, and I could not get it to work. Does this build start with VC4? I am not sure what VC4 is, so I have no idea :D .

**FIXED** on video playback settings turned off MMAL hardware acceleration and turned on OWXplayer hardware acceleration. Works like a charm!!

Hi Kratos. Can you give me a hand with this? I am almost there. I have Ubuntu Mate 16.04 on my Raspberry Pi 3 and I have followed your instructions and installed kodi 17.0 beta 1. I can run Kodi get into the Kodi homescreen, select a movie but when I try to play a movie it crashes to a black screen. Then I can "repaint" the desktop with my mouse. I am almost there!! Please help me fix it.

Here is my kodi crashlog

Thanks so much!

I try to put all but the website accept onlu 60000 words.. So I cut it.. If u want the other part I can copy it there.. ( on the log u can see gpu mem at 64..in fact it was 128MB as required, I tried to remove the line from the config.Txt for see if it changes something but no )

My config is Raspberry PI 3 with Ubuntu Mate 16.04LTS installed+HDD USB for storage film series etc..

If u have an idea about my trouble, thanks in advance.

You could try removing Kodi from your system like this:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove kodi -y
And then reinstall using these instructions (the very first post):
viewtopic.php?f=35&t=124572

You will need 160 MB in the config.txt file for Kodi to work properly.

Go to System > System Information and tell me what it says in Version Info. Or:

Code: Select all

grep Kodi .kodi/temp/kodi.log | head -3

I followed the directions on page 1 and installed Kodi on my Raspberry Pi3. Everything looked good until I tried to add content. It initially appeared to scrape and add shows but now simply crashes. pastebin.com/mzdMTStn

It appears that this is an issue I will have to look into. I will see what I can do. I'll compile a new version and see if it has the same problems.

I compiled a new version today. Would you mind giving it a shot and seeing if it works on your system? Download link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2vdsV ... sp=sharing

Install it the same way you did with the other package. Thanks!

Yes thanks for the link i will try now

EDIT : Its working, Version of this link works fined, start and everything, but this version seems to be blocked. impossible to change the Skin..some parameters are not available, also update ...

When i leave Kodi , black screen again , impossible to come back on the desktop...

EDIT II : I change the skin to NEON, and now i had access to all parameters..so it's working, playing video too etc... just always the black screen when i made ''EXIT'' solution for that i found is to do reboot, and you come back after the reboot of the Pi on your desktop...

Update : Soon i imported library, during the scan of some series of films, Kodi Crashed!! Reboot Pi, re start Kodi and here go never open again, boot screen with logo appears 2 or 3 seconds, and black screen ! nothing after !

i'm tired with this installation, but much better than just install openelec or libreelec...

Waiting for your version Kratos ^^

See you

OK, cool. It will definitely take me some time to iron all this out. About Kodi never opening again, that is because you needed to delete the .kodi folder in your home folder.

Hi,

I have also tried the Kodi package on the original post on my Raspberry Pi 3 and can also confirm when trying to play a video from youtube etc, the Kodi crashes and displays a black screen.. I would try Wimpy`s build but Im not sure how to install the package as I`ve never used the website before, but if you have a package I could install along with some instructions, I am willing to test it out

I figured it out! I successfully added a movie to the library with no issues! It was an issue with optimizations. Kodi is now packing into a .deb file for you guys to download. Will post again when it finishes.
