TryPi our event ?

Wed Apr 16, 2014 11:50 am

Who would be up for taking part in an annual event. I'm thinking of starting a TriPi event. If anyone has done the bbc school report thing it would be like that, each one of us submits what we did on a one off day to raise publicity for us and the RPi. This could be little or small depending on what u have had time for. We could show our projects on a hyperlinked map and even have completions? Other schools could sign up too but initially would be for us? I propose we call the event TrIPI ?? So who's in??

It could be a day during the school holidays, perhaps in the summer. That way museum's and hack spaces could run an event alongside it.

That sounds brilliant. What about doing it over a week - the same way the Hour of Code was - so that students can do it in school and/or out?

Yeah a week could work well, document it somehow and then make a video at the end to show what we did,

Standard make to get people started, easy recipes to try over the week,
And maybe a problem to solve ? For the more competitive

Sounds good to me.

It is prob harder for me to do things in the school holidays as we don't always have access to the building.

Focussing people on a specific day is likely to ensure people get around to doing something. We could always include some live streaming or Skype into the event to connect the events.

I think for now keep it in term time, I like the whole live blogging too kids could post up what they did that way ? Key will be to reward them for skills that you don't put a level too I.e team work, resilience. Give schools a sign up time a month before and then a badge for them to use as they wish after the day.

Almost a bit like the Science fairs in the states.

I do to know if anyone else here uses Edmodo but we could create a specific badge for the event which the children earn for taking part.

I like edmodo but see why people don't but a global badge is ace. That way teachers can self admin the badge. But winners of a set comp would only be granted through official means
