I'm super excited to be going to PiAcademy the end of the month :D !
Just looking into hotels now and booking a flight. Anyone have a hotel to recommend. sounds like other attendees have emailed each other ahead of time to confer. Hoping this is the place to do that.
I'm a technology coordinator for a private school (k-12) in Maryland. I have started an afterschool program using STEMpi kits and have been working with a friend on a new pi weather station for the school--it works but we need to find away to 'house' it outside. That's a challenge.
More about what I do later but for now--I'm looking forward to learning and getting some simple ideas for my younger kids --they like scratch and I've been having a heck of a time getting scratchGPIO working with pythonGPIO at the same time--I know there is a conflict and no time to solve right now.
I need better pi "fluency" that is for sure.
love all the posts I'm seeing from prior folks who've attended. Again, let me know where you are all coming from and if possible where you're planning on staying. thanks!

We're looking forward to meeting everyone at the end of the month! And we can't wait until you all meet each other. It's an incredible cohort. Sharing travel intel here is a great idea.

I've encouraged the previous cohort to stop by and offer some advice too!

Hello!

I'm super excited to be joining this second cohort of Picademy in the US.

Does anyone have advice for a hotel close by the venue?

My advice besides making sure to pace yourself for two days like a conference would also be to using social media. Try to not only be sharing but also following what others are saying. There is a brief moment in the morning where everyone will introduce themselves but it will pass by quickly. Using something like Twitter and the #picademy hashtag will be a great way to learn more about other people in your cohort. Also as things are happening and are shared both virtually and via the presenters it's a great way to save the information for a later more focussed look.

Hello!
I am very excited to be traveling to Mountain View from Vermont! I am confirming travel plans in the next couple of days, but should be arriving Thursday afternoon. I am hoping to schedule a tour of Stanford's d.school Friday afternoon. Anyone interested in joining me?

Howdy All!

I'm super jazzed about attending Picademy at the end of the month in Mountain View. I just booked a room at the Courtyard San Jose Cupertino. I will be driving up from Central CA. I'm currently a half-time band director and half-time technology specialist for my district but next year I will be a full-time technology specialist in the district. We already have tech clubs at two of our five schools that are doing scratch coding and working with Sphero's. Looking forward to learning more to expand our programs for students.

ONLY 10 Days away!
Super stoked to be attending PiAcademy USA next weekend!
Looking forward to meeting everyone and learning more about the Raspberry Pi and how to make my courses more engaging.
I should have some great pictures to share of my first IOT course's Raspberry Pi Final Projects (Presentations are next Friday before I catch my flight to Mountain View...)

Anywho... time to go study Python so I don't get lost next weekend.

See you next week.

Some of us may need a ride or may want to check out some of the nearby area sites. Here is a link to share contact info, flight, rides and interests...

This is NOT an official Pi Academy document.. I am reusing a document from the previous PiAcademy

I can't believe it is next weekend. I am Tim Cooper from Toronto. I will be staying at the Hotel Strada and coming into SFO at 12:50pm on Friday. I am going to bring some of my Pi toys and look forward to finding out new Pi tricks, more ways to use them with kids and making new friends.

Hello all! I am flying in from Louisiana Friday morning and will get in around 11. I am trying AirBNB for the first time - so we'll see how that goes! If anyone is up for a late lunch, let me know!

A little about me - I teach a PreK-6th grade STEM/Discovery lab and run the elementary Robotics team for my school. I'm excited to meet everyone this weekend!

Hi everyone!

I'm so excited to be attending this coming weekend and extremely nervous. I'm just now getting into this computer programming stuff as a new 7/8 tech teacher, but love learning all about it. It will be great to meet and work with all of you!

Hi everyone! I was in the first Picademy. I was a total noob, and I have never been in a place where I felt so free to take risks and fail, because I knew I would be supported in everything. There are a number of us from the first cohort who continue our conversations on Twitter and Voxer. It was a fabulous group, and I'm sure your cohort will be too!

Have fun, take chances, learn a lot, and get to know people - you will have a great time! I'm looking forward to following the hashtag on Twitter, so don't forget to tweet. :)

Really looking forward to Picademy! I teach tech/science classes in Washington (east side of state) and have very limited Python experience but have been slowly working through tutorials!

On the plane now and can't wait to meet everyone. Two of my very good friends and colleagues went to the first one and they couldn't wait to tell me all about it. Now I can't believe I'm going too. First time to the Bay Area, so that's exciting as well.
