CM3+ availability

Fri May 17, 2019 2:51 pm

Hi,

Raspberry Pi Trading's Approved Resellers in Europe RS & Farnell/Element14 are currently out-of-stock of most CM3+ references (CM3+/Lite, CM3+/8GB, CM3+/16GB, CM3+/32GB). This doesn't paint a complete picture since these huge companies have stocks in multiple locations around the world, but it seems supply is still quite constrained globally.

Can you share some info on how CM3+ production is ramping up and — ideally — when we can expect availability to improve ?

Best,
Guillaume

I don't think the foundation has any control over it

That's correct if i understand the foundation's governance correctly.

However, I'm hoping someone from Raspberry Pi Trading Limited — which handles manufacturing if I'm not mistaken — can chip in.

pun intended ?

and it does seem a long time - 3mnth is usually backlog for chip production.... so maybe there has been a massive order somewhere down the line

ah, did not notice

A Farnell/Element14 representative told me over that the current 14/10/19 backorder delay on their EMEA website is a floating estimate because they have no restocking planned. This date will keep shifting further in the future every day until they have a restock planned.

It also means Farnell/Element14 has no restock planned before 14/10/19 — or further — as far as they let us know. :?

Maybe placing an Order would give an idea of quantities required to either RS or Element14, unless you just need the odd 1 or 2 ?

Isn't it easier to just call them ? :) I've directly reached out to Farnell Europe and they've reported that, for the 32GB CM3+ which I inquired about :
- they are currently out-of-stock
- they will receive 4000 units in early June which are all already booked by customers
- they currently have no planned restock

Availability might differ slightly for other references (8GB, 16GB, Lite) based on distributor (RS, Farnell), and geographical situation, but it seems there's a pattern of general low availability for all CM3+ references right now.
