SD formatter

Sun Jun 16, 2013 2:49 pm

When I put in a 16 GB SDHC card, it said "error, either the drive or the card is incompatible". is there any other way of formatting the card?

When you put it into what? And what program are you using to format it? Would help if you let us know.

Confused as well but try a camera if you have one. Look through the menu if it doesn't auto prompt to format the card.

If it's the first time using the card reader in the laptop you might want to check their website for updated drivers typically with stock image drivers they can have issues. Since your machine can't see the card properly assuming you can't see it in My Computer I would try that if you can see it in My Computer but the SD Formatter software gives the error let us know.

It could be that the dell's SD card slot is not SDHC compatible (esp. for writing). I've always used an external, "USB-stick-like", SDHC card reader/writer** since my ~3 year old netbook's slot is not marked "SDHC".

Still running Raspbian Jessie on some older Pi's (an A, B1, B2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W) but Stretch on my 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, A+ and a B2. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

I also have a Latitude (E6410) and I have the same experience.
It works fine when I use a little stick USB card reader.
