Network Mapping a Harddrive

Sun Sep 22, 2019 11:43 pm

Hello!

I just got my first pi and have been using it as a media center just having Kodi installed on it with OpenElec and it's been working great!

What I've done is bought an external hard drive, copied all my digital media to it, and plugged it into the Pi. What I want to do next is share it over the network, so that I can mount it on my Ubuntu system and then download torrents directly into it. I planned on using SSH but I just don't know how to do it. I'm not sure if I need to install samba on the pi, or reload the OS on the pi with something other than openelec, or even if I can install samba over SSH.

Any help would be appreciated!

As you are using Ubuntu then I would suggest that you use NFS.
the following tutorial should help:
