NVR login in PI browser doesn't accept my (correct) password

Fri Jun 01, 2018 8:45 am

H i - I am logging in to my NVR webpage on my PC with no problems, but when I go to the page IP address in a PI browser (I tried both midori and epiphany), a popup says my user name or password is incorrect.
I cannot run chromium (keeps hanging) - so am trying these others.
My keyboard seems fine (types correct characters OK in terminal)
I amusing a Model B Revision 2.0
any ideas?
Thanks
Russell

Most of the assistance provided in these forums comes from volunteer helpers offering their own free time.

I would be more encouraged to assist if you make it as easy as possible for me to help you.

NVR = Nene Valley Railway? Or something else?

Is the remote webpage built with simple html, or something more technically complex? Perhaps it depends on a browser plugin that you have installed but forgotten on the PC, but has not been installed (or is incompatible) on the unspecified operating system on your RPi.

Hi - thanks for the reply -
I'm sorry - NVR is network video recorder.
I can reach the login page no problem and I type in user name and password - so I have no problem with reaching my url.

The only difference is that:
On my PC - I can login when I type the username and password in the login screen
On my Pi - when I use the same username and password (I checked this, caps lock not left on etc), I get a javascript pop-up - Javascript: User name or password is incorrect. Please try again.
I can only imagine that the browser does not accept the characters as typed (I have checked that I am not using some foreign keyboard setting - by displaying text as typed on a terminal.

Further - the login page is a Hikvision NVR login page as produced by the manufacturer - asyou suggest maybe some incompatibility with a simple pi browser ??

Maybe try the firefox-esr web browser, though it may be a JavaScript error ?
