Beginners Error = Destroyed Micro SD

Tue Apr 17, 2018 6:12 pm

Yes I have committed a rather foolish beginner's mistake. I was removing my Pi 3B from the basic plastic case In order to install a Sense Hat. Well I forgot to remove the Micro Sd card first. "Why is this so hard to get out of here" I wondered a I gave it another hard tug and ....... SNAP!!!! A piece of something goes flying past my face as I realize this can't be good. Sheared that card right in two.
I figured the Pi would be ruined too, surely that socket is destroyed as well. NOPE, got off lucky, that little card holder is tough! Popped in my backup chip and I was off to the races again. That was a close one. :P
Now let's see what this sense hat thing can do....

Welcome to the Raspberry Pi forums.

Well, you are not the first person to do that.

I was so determined that the board would come out of the case that I actually went and got a screwdriver to lever it out. And that's when I heard that 'scrunch' sound that you are familiar with....

Good luck from here on in!

Add me to the list. Fortunately, after you do it once, you won't do it again.
Headless PI. OMG, someone cut it's head off. Oh, hang on. it didn't have one to start with.

Well,
"To err is human, but only a fool makes the same mistake twice."
I don't think you (Burngate) are a fool.
Therefore, I say you (probably) haven't.
