change sd card size

Hi to all, i have reading can not find the answer to.
I have 8 GB sd card on my pi but now is full can some one tell me if i get a 16 Gb and make a image of the 8, can i burn the image on to the 16, will it work as before whit more space?

If you are running Raspbian Jessie with Pixel it comes with PiClone SD Card Copier, you will need a USB SDHC Card Reader, it was discussed in this Blog from a year ago:

after copy (if use dd or Win32DiskImager) do:
1) run "sudo raspi-config"
2) and select option "Expand Filesystem"
3) reboot
