phpmyadmin forbidden access error

Sun Sep 25, 2016 8:11 pm

When I try to access phpmyadmin, I get this:

Code: Select all

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /phpmyadmin/ on this server.

Apache/2.2.22 (Debian) Server at 192.168.1.7 Port 80

Take a look in /var/log/apache2/error.log

I can't seem to access the apache2 folder without having to switch to root:

Code: Select all

drwxr-x--- 2 root adm 4096 Sep 25 15:08 apache2
Should it be locked down like this? I don't remember creating the root password, so not sure what it is....

Yes. It should be locked down like that for security reasons.

The default root account on a Pi doesn't have a valid password, but you can run commands as the root user by putting "sudo " in front of them.

However, you shouldn't see that particular error if you have installed phpmyadmin correctly and have a valid MySQL user and password.

I think your options are either you can sudo apt-get update and upgrade and see what happens

If that doesnt work too, you'd probably want to reinstall ( or better still purge the installation first and then after reinstall )

Return to “Beginners”
