Send A Electric Signal from the raspberry Pi Zero

Thu Apr 28, 2016 7:35 am

Hi guys, i would like to know if it's possible to Start my computer with my Rasp Zero, not with WAKEONLAN or things like that, just an electric signal as if i was pushing the power button. From a internet WebSite for example. Thanks

You are going to need some sort of relay which can switch your computer on based on a signal from your Pi.

It sounds like a very doable project.

It should be possible. The PC motherboard will likely have a variety of 'wake on' inputs which can be connected to using a relay, opto, transistor or even directly.

Paralleling a relay contact with the power button is the easiest and safest route. Wake On LAN and Wake On Modem ( Wake On Ring ) header pins are often the most convenient to directly interface to if available though a direct power button interface is also possible
