Connecting Raspberry Pi Model B+ to 17" LCD Screen

Thu Apr 30, 2015 2:55 pm

Hey there,

I disassembled my old Dell Inspiron 9400 because I want to connect my RPi to the LCD screen. The screen is the Samsung LTN170U1-L01. I ordered the LCD Controller board for it and the vendor also programmed it for me. Also I ordered all the other materials like cables and so on.
So I connected everything but all I see are some stripes. The RPi is working since I tried to connect him to my TV and I can see that XBMC is working.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the reason for that? I also tried to connect my BluRay Player to the LCD screen with the same result. When I turn on the screen without the RPi connected to it the stripes begin to appear on the top, then disappear and the lamp gets red.
Actually I think the screen must be working, so I don't know where the problem is.
On the photos you can see the setup and the result when the RPi is connected to the LCD Screen.

Thanks for help!

You need to give more information for a solid answer.

Did you use raspi-config to set the video output?
What were the vendor's instructions? Is the controller Pi-specific?
Give a link if they are online... etc

I editet the config.txt to safe HDMI and force HDMI, but nothing changed.
The screen is the Samsung LTN170U1-L01 (disassembled from my Dell Inspiron 9400), I can't find a datasheet, just the following service manual:
http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-p ... _en-us.pdf

The LCD controller is this one:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/271175654997?_tr ... EBIDX%3AIT

I could find following data for the LCD controller:
http://www.vslcd.com/Specification/M.NT68676.2A.pdf
http://www.elecrealm.com/down/html/?39.html
http://www.njytouch.com/products/2-en.html

The vendor told me to buy this controller and said they would program it for me. The controller is not pi-specific as far as I know, though I told them that I want to connect my Pi to an LCD screen and if you search for other projects also other people have already done a setup like that.

If you need more information please let me know.
