resize partitions on a SD with debian?

Thu Jul 05, 2012 7:34 am

I'm new to linux and raspi, I filled my SD card with Debian, Apache, PHP, Mysql, etc. .., it works fine, now I only have 100MB free, on 8GB card
I have a debian install on VirtualBox in Windows Vista as host with a problem, gparted seems fine and sees the 3 partitions of my SD but GRUB does not work even if you reinstall it.
Before I use GParted. It is necessary after moving the swapfile partition with GParted to use GRUB?.
Another way to resize partitions?
A simple method for save the SD card contents?

The raspi-config script on wheezy (debian) has a re-sizeing built into it you may find the answer there. ;)
Noob is not derogatory the noob is just the lower end of the noob--geek spectrum being a noob is just your first step towards being an uber-geek ;)

If you find a solution please post it in the wiki the forum dies too quick

To expand the image to fill the 8GB card, see the instructions at the end of this page

gparted is super useful for this but you can also potentially screw up everything ever. haha
