Compatible Electric Sensor With Raspberry Pi

Fri Feb 20, 2015 9:46 pm

Hello,

I am new to Raspberry Pi world. I am trying to make a project in which I want to connect 'electric sensor' with Raspberry Pi. Would anyone can suggest me, please, what is the recommended electric sensor that is compatible with Raspberry Pi?

My idea is to use electric sensor by placing it around the electric wire to sense the amount of current flowing through it. And then, i need data from the sensor on regular intervals.

Moreover, how to take data from the electric sensor?

Regards.

If all you want to do is determine how much current is flowing in a wire, the usual way to do that is put a ferrite core with a gap cut in it and a hall effect sensor in the gap.
