Problems while installing openSUSE Leap 42.3

Tue Jan 02, 2018 7:27 pm

Hi everybody,
I'm relatively new to the raspberry board, and I need to install a 64-bit OS in order to program in ARM assembly. I decided to install the openSUSE Leap 42.3 version, following the instructions at this link: . When I connect the SD card and the USB key, it boots correctly and it gets to the GRUB, then after starting the installation, just after printing to the screen something like "Start udev", the board dies. I think it may be a psu problem, even if it works flawlessly with Raspbian OS. It should provide 5V @ 2.5A, the model is: HN-5258.
Does someone have ever experienced this problem and know how to solve it?

Extract Leap 42.3 image onto ur SDCard and remove all files except boot folder n then paste tumbleweed files except boot.efi file...then it works

Have there been any further notes on this? I followed the instructions included with the Leap 42.3 package as below:
Checked the sha256sum s and found them to be correct

Following these directiions:
xzcat [image].raw.xz | dd bs=4M of=/dev/sdX iflag=fullblock oflag=direct; sync
Insert the SD card with the openSUSE image into your board.
Connect the board to your PC via serial port (optional, but helpful for debugging; USB-TTL serial cable needed).
Connect the board to your monitor (via DVI/HDMI, optional).
Power on the board.
Walk through the first boot steps.
Ethernet is configured to request an IP via DHCP, check your DHCP server for the board IP if used.
Have a lot of fun...

Actual execution::
xzcat openSUSE-Leap42.3-ARM-X11-raspberrypi3.aarch64-2017.07.26-Build1.1.raw.xz | dd bs=4M of=/dev/sdd2 iflag=fullblock oflag=direct; sync
787+0 records in
787+0 records out
3300917248 bytes (3.3 GB, 3.1 GiB) copied, 314.501 s, 10.5 MB/s

Only difference is that the SD card is 128 GB.
With the SD card installed and the board powered up. I got no response. Went back to the 32 GB SD card with Raspian installed and it came up correctly.

Return to “openSUSE”
