A couple of emulator questions

Wed Feb 05, 2014 10:56 pm

Whats the best emulator to run on raspbian? I've got mame4all running currently but it seems to be limited to just 0.375b roms, i'd like to play snes games if possible.

second question, i've modified an old icade into using an lcd screen and a usb joystick. I'd like to get away from having to use a mouse/keyboard to navigate to rome etc, is there any way of assigning the buttons and joystick as a mouse/keyboard?

Firstly MAME only runs Arcade Boards/ROMS, there are many emulators for various Systems on the RPi with more being ported or developed, check the Emulation on the Raspberry Pi Thread for everything available -

Here - http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 78&t=54357

Second using a Front End will negate the need for keyboard/mouse navigation when running multiple emulators/roms for programs that don't provide a 'Built In' Front End and they can also be intergrated (it can then be started on boot), currently the available options are AdvanceMENU and Emulation Station . I have written a guide for compiling and using AdvMENU, a link is provided at the Thread above, Emulation Station can be found Here - https://github.com/Aloshi/EmulationStation
