As lunarkingdom and poopballoon are experiencing, I too am unable to get UltraSlim1.6 installed on my b+.

It seems as the USB ports & Network port are both not being seen by the system when first booting up the IMG. I assume this is do to the kernel on the image not being new enough.

I bought my RPi solely for this image, from what I've seen and researched so far it's perfect in every way for my wants/needs. The creator has thought of all the little details that make it such a perfect setup, and I very much appreciate that. I will be very excited to get it running on my b+!

I'm currently working on front end designs for emulation station, xbmc, and others, as that is closer to my trade, and I look forward to sharing them with this community as well.

Thanks for your work on this Takenover83, can't wait to use it!

I am sure they will get it fixed when they get time, I could not wait I had to be messing with something so in the mean time Installed retropie, for a quick run down on what it takes to do so I replied on another persons thread about how to get it working (Scroll down the page mine is the third post):

http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 78&t=82638

I am going to compile the perfect setup then save it as an image that way I can just flash it whenever i want, I am kind of glad they have not fixed it yet as it made me learn some other stuff BUT I hope they get it fixed soon I so want to try it out too!!!

EDIT: The software is Pi serial number based so it will only work on my Pi

I flashed the SD Card like normal, and when I plug it in, it shuts off after a couple seconds. I have the B+ model, so I'm not sure what the problem is. RetroPie and Raspbian Wheezy both work flawlessly on it, so I'm wondering if it's the bug other people were talking about (Please fix soon :))

Looking forward to UltraSlim 2.0. Hopefully the non-detecting keyboard error will be fixed for the Model B+.

Excellent work all round :)

Hopefully the new ultraslim uses the same emulationstation theme as 1.6. And did anyone do a rpi-update to see if ultraslim works with the model b+?

Did you do a rpi-update from the model B to get it to work on the B+?

I don't have a model B just a B+, otherwise I would post a working image for everyone.

Yeah thats my situation too.

I'm currenty using Berryboot with Openelec and Retropie.

I want to add other packages, but Openelec isn't suited for it and Raspbmc isn't compatible with Berryboot. And compiling retropie on Raspbmc failed meserably after 10 Hours of wasted time.

UltraSlim is in need of updating. Time permitting (Yes, real life sucks and I do have a full time job), I will likely begin work on 2.0 in the coming weeks. Thanks to this awesome community for keeping it going.
2 Months passed :(

Not wanting to drag you from your normal life ofc! But an update would be great.
Kinda scared that updates aren't going to come and support for your awesome distro will slowly die as it gets outdated.

Would be great to be able to update XBMC for instance.
Maybe add some more emu's (without getting too bloated)
And support for installing to a usb drive using the sd card for boot only?

Anyways, Still an Awesome distro!!

Hope to see something new real soon!

It shouldn't be too difficult to add XBMC and Retorpie to a current raspbian image.

I tried it myself and I followed the following tutorials:

1. Installed a fresh Raspbian Image with Berryboot.

2. Installed XBMC with the following Tutorial: http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianXBMC

3. Installed Retropie following the following Tutorial: http://blog.petrockblock.com/2012/07/22 ... pberry-pi/

XBMC installed just fine, but I had to give up, because I was unable to autorecognize USB storage devices that I connect automatically. Having to mount manually was too much hassle. That might be an easy task for someone who is familiar with Linux, but an Linux Idiot like me can only follow guides and enter commands exactly as instructed.

WIth Retropie, the installation failed a t some point with error messages indicating, that all dependencies are not met. Again, as a Linux idiot, I can't help myself, but someone else might be easily overcome that error.

If someone works with linux regularly, getting XBMC and Retropie on the same system running schould be doable within a day.

A Image would save us a lot of hassle.

I would do it myself and release a image, but unfortunately I lack the linux skills for it.

I hope someone can carry on the good work on this Image.

I don't mind downloading a 4GB Backup.

Maybe someone could post a 2 GB Backup in order to cut the download time in half.

Anyway it would be more Timeconsuming for everyone to have to compile everything themselves.

Is there a way to rebind the controls (the first dialog on first run of UltraSlim) after you set them up wrongly?
I really don't want to flash my SD agian and do all the configuration agian.

I would happily download the 4gb backup. Then I would post it to my google drive and share it out.

I too would really appreciate an updated backup to download. I've been trying to get ultraslim to work on my B+ with no luck.

Since no one had done so yet and I had free time I went a head and did an rpi-update for those of you trying to get this on the B+.

I did a quick test on my B+ and it was booting so it should work but I didn't test much.

This is a 2gb image.
