Street Of Rage Remake

Tue Dec 25, 2012 8:41 pm

Hi all
I'm wonder if the Raspi can launch the remake of Street Of Rage ?
i have do some search and the games seems to works very well in Ubuuntu :
http://www.n00bsonubuntu.net/content/ho ... ntu-11-10/

The shell commands seem's to be not works , maybe because Sega asked to remove it ....
i know this game has been made with SDL so maybe that's should works with no wine usage ?

I've done a little more work today on beats of rage for the PI. And managed to get it working :)

clone from https://github.com/rofl0r/openbor.git

follow the instructions to compile , I used NO_GL=1 BUILD_DEBUG=1 while making

copy over a Pak file to the relevant folder.

once compiled before executing, I used
fbset -xres 512 -yres 384 -depth 16
then
SDL_FB_BROKEN_MODES=1 ./OpenBOR

and finally I got a display :)

I did have one or two problems with the Paks I downloaded , after a little reading I realised the compression used on my Paks was obsolete , I unpacked them into a folder and bingo I could play BOR at a good speed :)

Good luck

On my system if I use
fbset -xres 384 -yres 256 -depth 16

I get a much bigger play area , people will probably have to try different combos for different displays

How would I compile OpenBor for Raspberry Pi? This there a step by step guide for this? Or is there a compiled version already that could be uploaded here?

Thank You

P.S. Sorry if this is a double post.

I am not talking about Streets of Rage Remake. I am talking about Openbor which plays .paks made with the OpenBor Engine. I was wondering how he got OpenBor compiled to play on Raspberry Pi, as he stated above, in this thread.

I would be interested in that as well. Beats of Rage used a scripting engine so it shouldn't be too hard to port it over. I have a number of good games made with open BOR (my favorites are the Golden Axe fan games.)

Anyone else having problems getting OpenBor to boot? Mine goes straight to a black screen when I execute the runopenbor.sh and just hangs there, making me reboot the Pi. Do I need to run this through the terminal?

Thank You

CodenameV,

I was trying to compile PainTown (OpenBOR + Mugen) to RPi but I corrupted my SD card during the process.
Do you intend to try to compile PainTown too?

CodenameV,

Is it take a while to load a pak file? I tried 6 paks but all of them freezes in black screen.
The menu screen works normally but I tried to run paks with and without menu screen and only black screen.

Hi using the included tools unpack the pak file and try it again , I remember having a few problems with certain pak files until I unpacked them ( then later repacked them )

I managed to compile paintown today, but in its current state its very slow, if I get chance I will try and optimize it more towards the PI hardware , if anyone else fancies trying the compiling is simple , just download the source from the project web site

http://paintown.sourceforge.net/

I downloaded version 3.6

http://sourceforge.net/projects/paintow ... 2/download

unpack it and execute the easy-compile-ubuntu script and that was it

I'll try and post the compiled version later but for now why not give it a go yourselves :)

CodenameV,

Did you compile it using SDL engine or Allegro 5 engine?
I will try to use the unpack tool!

The SDL engine to start with and heres a link to the compiled file sitting on my onedrive
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=F ... 60DA%21182

for anyone whos interested :) , download the source from the above link , untar , when completed untar the compiled file and copy into the folder, then just run paintown , either from terminal or X but its obviously much slower in X
