retroflag NESpi

Mon Dec 24, 2018 9:26 am

Hey im looking at this retroflag case, https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07873 ... UPHT&psc=1

it says it has safe shutdown with the power and reset buttons, does this come ready to go from pluging it in or do i need to "install" it or what ever. I was also looking at adding onof these: https://mini-mods.com/product/retroflag ... n-control/

any other little mod/upgrades i should/could do? Want to make it more of a project then just install the raspberrypi

Hi,

The case has two modes, for safe shutdown you need to install a little bit of code, it's fairly simple and easy to adapt.

The fan is really quite noisy, I think because it is mounted directly on the case, a little bit of paper between it and the case may help, not sure how effective it is, it don't seem to shift a lot of air, that controller may also help with the noise.

Other than that I'm really quite happy with mine...

thanks for the reply. Ill take a look into that once i get this ordered in the new year good to know its simple. i saw a video after i posted and the guy talked about how it helps to redue noise with the fan not always running. Nothing else you can really do with it i guess? I really wanted to have to do more "work" for this like a handheld. I just cant justify the handheld as i wont use it as much

No nothing to suggest really, I use a PS3 controller, works well, I also have a couple of the retroflag usb ones, they are fair.

Yea simple from a hardware point of view. I run retropie on it, there is loads you can tweak and play with on that though, getting decent rom sets is a task in it's self.

If your budget can stretch to it I would recommend running it on a small ssd, makes all the difference.

Hi,

No room in the case at all really it's quite cramped.

I have got a Kingston 2.5" 120GB SSD in a external USB caddy, the drives are about 20UKP and you can get a caddy for about 5UKP, the NES case is about the same size at the caddy, so I just sit the case onto of the caddy, looks quite smart..

This is the caddy I have...
