Thanks, from what you're saying, we have high hopes the Pi Zero might work.

It would be most helpful if someone could test on a Pi Zero for us and let us know the results of the various games.

I'm just wondering how do you download the games? I'm trying to download Alien Invasion. Do you copy the files from a memory stick onto your Pi, or download the files onto your Pi using the Archive tree window?

For downloading use the links on the site.
For Europe you might need to use the alternative download option mentioned.

If you've downloaded on a Windows machine then the files will not be set to be executable when you've copied them to the Pi
Easiest way to fix this is to right click and change the Permissions for Execute to Anyone. Then the file will be seen as a program.

The games should then just run. I actually downloaded from the Pi2 and it worked fine. For the alternative download I had to use Iceweasel as the browser as the default browser kept closing down then I clicked a download link. No idea why.

Tested the following games on Pi Zero and all worked perfectly.

Cubix Mania

Felt a little slower than Pi2 but still very playable.

Expectation is all the games should work on Pi Zero

Did more testing and all the games I've tested work perfectly with 256MB GPU RAM on the Pi Zero.Tried with 128MB GPU RAM and the ones I tested ran, but some graphics were missing, so it looks like 256MB is needed

Thanks for the effort ! Pi is a education platform primarily for Children to get them into programming . More games is always a great thing if your trynna attract children!
I am thinking Mario Kart style games where kids are competeing over LAN or over Internet.

I'm assuming Retropie can be used as a front-end to native Pi/Linux programs as well? In this case, we will take a look at Retropie and make a custom menu, that is a really great suggestion so thanks for that.

On a slightly related topic... We were also thinking of making a 3D printable mini-arcade case with lots of cool/custom marquees and bezels to match the games.

Absolutely! We'll have to think of the best way to do that, I do remember my programmers mentioning something about no native icon formats, so I guess we could just include 64x64 PNG files in the tarball. We already have the art from the PC/Mac builds anyway, so they are technically almost ready.

Someone was kind enough to point out that the links to some of the games are 'shortened' links that work fine when clicking in Windows, but don't work from the Raspberry Pi! My bad. I will update the links here on raspberrypi.org in a few minutes, and the links on the www.WebfootGames.com/pi page will be updated by Monday.

Double clicked the file but asking what application should open it.
How to actually run the games?

Personally I would.

You probably want to "own" the file with

ANyway, I was able to play it. Unzipped on to Desktop and run.
One thing I noticed tho, the refresh rate of the game makes me dizzy. Was that my monitor (via HDMI) or raspi or the game?
I played it on raspi 1B, any one tried it on raspi2? Could it be better?

Hi and thanks for posting your feedback. The games were really made for Pi 2 or higher, but since some users have found they work on the older Pis, we have done nothing to prevent them from running on the older Pis (but strongly encourage people to use a Pi 2 or higher). Hello All,
I am new here and like the idea of the games but I cannot get any of them to run on my Pi 3. I extract them and try to run them but after the system prompts me to execute them nothing happens. I changed the GPU memory to 256 MB but still no luck.

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong ?

I am guessing the issue is that ld is loading /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv2.so instead of libbrcmGLESv2.so.

You could create a symlink as a hacky workaround. I've also had luck with patchelf to fix similar situations:
