Frozen video in Sega Retroarch (RetroPie)

Sun Mar 22, 2015 3:28 pm

I am running Sega emulators via RetroPie. They work fanstically well, but only for a short time.

After a short while, I’m getting screen freezes where the video locks up, but the game seems to keep running in the background (from the sound effects that seems to be what’s going on).

As a note - I ran rpi-update recently to fix some sound issues in Descent (see the other thread), so my firmware is bleeding edge, and I wonder if that might be to blame. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes?

I have not recently heard of anything similar, although SEGA/MEGA CD Titles sometimes Crash with a screen freeze, but updating packages can have a detrimental effect on certain Programs. This is nothing new, Windows and OSX suffer similar update issues. You can report this at the Raspbian Github, the Team previously resolved a sound Issue with Stella (Atari VCS/2600 Emulator).

Do you have your Pi overclocked? GPU and CPU?
