JPEG2000 decoder

Thu Feb 28, 2013 9:45 pm

Hello everybody!
Is there JPEG2000 decoder available for Raspberry? If there is, is it hardware accelerated as like as hello_jpeg example? Is it feasible to decode with it 720p video with 30 fps?

There's a hello_jpeg example somewhere to decode jpeg (you'll have to search these forums). Looking at the OpenMAX spec, there seems to be an option in the image decoder for JPEG2000. A quick test is to change that option to JPEG2000, and re-run it against JPEG2000. Let us know your results, please. Thanks.

No we don't support JPEG2000 - it's only relationship to JPG is the name, otherwise it's completely different in almost every way. It also gained very little traction over the years, so there has never been the demand to support it.
