Face detection

On Pi, there's face detection OpenMAX camera port:

Has anyone been able to use it?

Or is there any other HW accelerated solution for face detection on Pi? I need to detect faces from camera every 1-2 seconds while playing FullHD h.264 content @ 25-30fps. I'm afraid that software solutions (OpenCV) will not work at that speed...

If you are worried about CPU time not being available while maxing out the Pi doing video, is using a second Pi just to process the face-rec an option for you? They are sooo cheap after all.

I was thinking about this before, but 2nd Pi wouldn't help because CPU is too slow to do that. On the other hand if it was on the GPU, it should be possible to play video and do face-detection simultaneously on one Pi - video is without sound so unused audio decoder should make some room for face-detection calculations.
