Raspbian Stretch 2018-11-13 Repository Problem

Mon Dec 03, 2018 12:19 am

Hi All,

Hope you are fine. I downloaded from https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_latest, then burned it, installed it.

Then i updated it via apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade, apt-get upgrade and rpi-update.

I was trying to install Tor and realized it's version. It's version is 0.2.9.16-1. I checked from https://dist.torproject.org/ and as i see it is too old version.

Then i looked my sources.list file:

deb http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/ stretch main contrib non-free rpi

I checked from this website https://dist.torproject.org/ and the latest stable version is 0.3.4.9

I used apt-get update tor --reinstall command for reinstall and fetch new version but it installed again 0.2.9.16-1, i couldn't understand.

Could you please help me about this issue?

First and foremost rpi-update install a testing kernel / firmware and has not been recommended for ages, as it does and can break Raspbian Stretch. The following is sufficient:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade

Regards the TOR package Raspbian Stretch follows Debian Stretch ARMHF so unless you want to compile a newer version yourself you will get version 0.2.9.16-1

https://packages.debian.org/stretch/tor
adieu

My other Computer is an Asus CS10 ChromeBit running Chrome Operating System.
HP Envy 4500 Wireless Printer supported by HPLIP software in Raspbian Buster.
Raspberry Pi Model 2B v1.1

Thank you for your interest.

Is there a way to downgrade original kernel?

And as i understand Raspbian Stretch follows Debian Stretch ARMHF and stable version is 0.2.9.16-1, right? This means i shouldn't compile newer version of Tor.

Return to “Raspbian”
