Raspbian - November 2018 - now in 3 variants

As a heads-up to other volunteer helpers -

The November 2018 release of Raspbian Stretch comes in THREE variants.

RASPBIAN STRETCH WITH DESKTOP AND RECOMMENDED SOFTWARE

RASPBIAN STRETCH WITH DESKTOP

and RASPBIAN STRETCH LITE

From the Release Notes:
2018-11-13:
* Two versions of image created - "base" image has no optional software packages included; "full" image has all optional packages
- Removed from "base" image - LibreOffice, Thonny, Scratch, Scratch 2, Sonic Pi, Minecraft, Python Games, SmartSim, SenseHAT Emulator
- Added to "full" image - Mathematica, BlueJ, Greenfoot, Node-RED, Claws Mail, VNC Viewer
* Python Games and SmartSim added to Recommended Software
* VLC media player with VideoCore hardware acceleration included in image
* Version 3.0.5 of Thonny included

There's also a new version of NOOBS (3.0.0) and NOOBS lite (3.0) for the folks who need that.

That's good to know. It might be worth changing "base image" and "full image" terms to reflect the names being used. "Removed" and particularly "added" isn't entirely clear; "included" and/or "not included" would be better.

That's brilliant news for me, a desktop GUI with just a browser & multimedia player. :D
Especially as that is all I want on my new RPi3A+ when it arrives, (hopefully 512MB ram will be OK).

(Won't have to delete all those unneeded programs, or add in what I want to a command line installation.) :lol:

I liked the idea of "minimal desktop" and "full desktop" which is reflected on the new variants.

so this means minecraft is gone from raspberry pi for all 3 versions?
