Stretch display and Raspberry

Sat Oct 21, 2017 4:56 pm

Hi, do you think that is possible to plug monitors that are going out the standard 16:9 or 9:16?
For example samsung made stretch displays with shape of 32:9 (called also 16:4.5) screen resolution 1920x540 pixel. (exactly half of a full hd), Example:

Raspberry Pi 3 model B - Raspbian 8 Jessie and buster and ubuntu core server 18 lts

Check the available HDMi Output scenarios, including custom modes:

Has anyone had success with this problem?
I'm facing the same issue, How to properly support a Samsung Stretch display (1920 X 540)
and can't find clear enough information on how to go about a Screen ratio that is 32 to 9

I have found a solution for this particular problem:

1. Go to the TV's menu and set the aspect ratio:
Picture Menu/Picture Size = Original Ratio.
Note: by default is set to 16/9 and if not changed, no mater what you do to the raspberry pi, it will not fill the screen

2. Change /boot/config.txt and add the following lines:

hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=87
hdmi_timings=1920 1 48 192 240 540 1 3 10 6 0 0 0 60 0 81750000 8

This worked for me.

hdmi_cvt=1920 540 60 3 0 0 0
hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=87
hdmi_force_hotplug=1

Return to “Raspbian”
