Can't find new Jessie version of Raspbian OS

Tue Aug 22, 2017 3:20 am

I am attempting to download the Jessie OS version of Rasbian but I can not
find this version or even download it  through NOOBS since it is not one of the OSs
that NOOBS supports.  I was able to get the Jessie version about 1 week
ago but it seems it is no longer available.  Was it removed or am I not looking
at the right places ?

                    Thanks

To install NOOBS/Jessie now (now that Stretch is out and is the "supported" version), you will have to find and d/l an old version of NOOBS and not the "lite" version, since the "lite" version will just pull in whatever's current on the server. Find a "heavy" version of NOOBS dated before the release of Stench and it should work.

From what I've seen it should not be too hard to find it - but you do have to look in the right place.

Raspbian Jessie is EOL and will not be supported. As mentioned it would be best to use the Raspbian Stretch.

If you must then all older versions of both NOOBS and standalone OS installs can be found here: http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Buster w/ Desktop OS.

Jessie isn't EOL yet and receives fixes. I really find the Foundation's behavior regarding dumping Stretch on the (unsuspecting) masses irritating, especially by removing the easy to find download links. Anyway, see here, as it is actually quite difficult to google: https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_lite/images/
From ZX81 to Raspberry Pi, but wait ... where's the 7805 gone?

Anyway, see here, ...
Will that work? I.e., will d/l'ing an old version of "NOOBS Lite" actually install Jessie?

It's my understanding (not tested) that NOOBS Lite will install whatever is "current on the server" - which is now going to be Stretch.

Or maybe it installs the latest Jessie (which is what it should do, but might not be what you want).

I'm willing to be re-educated...

Touche!

Settin' 'em up and knockin' 'em down.

Anyway, that does seem to be how NOOBS "Lite" works, so I guess I don't need no re-edgacatin'...
