Rasbian, Raspberry Pi 3 and Gertbod

Using the Gertbot Robotics Board for Raspberry Pi 3 I am struggling with problems.

From the Gertbot homepage, I've downloaded Gertbot Debug GUI (.tgz) and extracted this. Then Enable Uart (.tgz) has been downloaded and extracted. I have also added ”enable_uart = 1” in /boot/config.txt

When I run Gertbot Debug GUI the program starts and I can click ”Connect”.

Then ”Searching for boards ….” and ”Board 0 ….” is displayed in the log window – but then nothing else shows up.

Nothing is found and finally, I will have to shut down the program manually.

I've updated software (Raspian) to latest version and tried everything twice with same result.

If I run a ”sudo ./enable_uart cfr” command, I will see this:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ cd Gertbot
pi@raspberrypi:~/Gertbot $ sudo ./enable_uart cfr
/boot/cmdline.txt seems OK
Error checking /etc/inittab
pi@raspberrypi:~/Gertbot $

But it seems that inittab is not used anymore, or??

Any ideas??

Thank you

I found a solution. Disable bluetooth and it works!!
I don't know why exactly - but with bluetooth disabled it will find the board

By default the Pi3 uses the UART, that all other boards have on the GPIO, for BT and uses the mini-uart on GPIO instead.

Hi,

A question concerning that issue.

I am planning to use a GertBot as DCC (model train controler) for which i need to have the Bluetooth enabled because of communication with a WiiMote. You mentioned only to be able to see board 0, does that mean you have multiple boards connected and are only able to communicate with board 0 with Bluetooth enabled? Or are you unable to connect with the board at all (with Bluetooth enabled).

Thanks!

Just bought five of these Pi3/gertbot setups and none of them work! Follow the instructions to the letter AND disable bluetooth on the menu bar, but the GUI still crashes. Does the Bluetooth have to be disabled in the config file somehow? And why doesn't gertbot.com have something on their site about this HUGE problem?
