I DD'ed the 1GB RSE 2.3, but it doesnt appear in my DHCP table, and I dont have access to HDMI or composite at the moment.

Using a Rev1 Model B.

Any ideas?

It's the exact same image as the 2GB one, except shortened...
Try reflashing ?
Otherwise I'm not too sure =/

Search for Geek101 and see Tony Hughes' and related posts. Also look for 'baked raspberry pi mod' which makes installation of server components and changes very easy. (No affliation, disclaimer etc)

Would anyone be interested in a Raspbian Server Edition for Hard Drives ?

Comes in a zip file, with the boot directory separate to the HD image.
copy files in boot directory to SD card
dd if=RSE2.4.HD.img of=/dev/sdx1 bs=1M to dd the image onto a hard drive or USB stick.

Yes ? no ?

RSE 2.5 is out @ http://sirlagz.net/2013/07/19/raspbian- ... ition-2-5/
Pre-Upgraded to Jessie, apart from that though not much of a change

For the people who were after the scripts I use to generate RSE, they can be found here

Hi SirLagz,
your server seems to be down - can you mirror the scripts e.g. on github?

Thx,
M

I'll get them up somewhere when I get home.
*Edit*
Site is back up now. No idea what went wrong there =/

P.S.: I would recommend keeping ifplugd.

Out of curiosity why keep ifplugd ?
I don't really see a point in it when servers will most likely have hardwire networks and configured with a static IP

Short answer: I shot into my foot and had to figure out how to manually configure ifconfig (didn't do it for 10 years or so).

Longer answer: a stripped down raspi might travel and be plugged into various networks over time.
And avoids redundant config settings (e.g. in DHCP environments).

But it's just my 2ct.

Do you still work on this?

Occasionally...
There's quite a few other minimal Raspbian Distros out there now though which other people seem fond of so I haven't put much work into this of late.
Do people want a version based off the new Raspbian Distro ?

Oh I must have missed that since I haven't been active in the scene for quite a while. Can you recommend one that is similar to RSE? I found MINIBIAN and some others that have preinstalled apache packages and stuff. But I only need a minimal Raspbian distro focused on performance and small memory footprint rather than a small image.

I'm still running RSE 2.4 and I like your work. However if there already are stripped down versions of recent Raspbian there is no need for you to do it again I guess.
