No luck

sudo apt-get install udev

Reading state information... Done
udev is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Ok, now try libudev1

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libudev1
Well, I think I undestood:
in Raspbian Wheezy there is libudev0, not libudev1.
A possible workaround should be to create a symlink. Please try

Code: Select all

sudo ln -s /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libudev.so.0 /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libudev.so.1

Only *udev
sudo apt-get install libudev
libudev0 libudev-dev

and both are installed

Hehe, I try to do my best :D
However, unfortunately, I think you have to upgrade to Raspbian Jessie, because I compiled XBMC using Jessie libraries. If you want to do this, run:

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
and change wheezy with jessie in "deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian" line, then

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Jessie is the new version of Raspbian, based on Debian Jessie.
Officially it is an "unstable" version, but it is almost perfectly usable.

I trust you. I'm upgrading.
But is too difficult to provide a guide to compile XBMC with only CEC support?
I tried many time following this guide http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianXBMC but every time something went bad

Well, I followed exactly that guide, plus other hints found on the net (expecially https://github.com/xbianonpi/xbian/wiki ... pendencies).
However, compiling is not a easy task, many little things can go wrong.

Before I had only one .xbmc folder under /root/.xbmc.
Now I have also a .xbmc folder under $HOME/.xbmc

I copied the /root/.xbmc folder over the $HOME/.xbmc folder but I still miss all my settings.
:-(

I'm on tail on both the xbmc.log files (/root/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log and $HOME/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log) but no log lines when I use xbmc

Hi, first of all, does XBMC start correctly now?
About the settings, if you have /root/.xbmc folder, you sometime had certainly run XBMC as root, and not as normal user. This is a bad behavior. You should not start XBMC (and any user application) as root!
Having said that, I don't know if you can copy setting between different users (in this case root and pi I presume). However, although not advisable, you might start XBMC as root, so you may see if you can keep your settings.

Code: Select all

sudo bash
then

Code: Select all

xbmc
EDIT: If you copied from /root/.xbmc to $HOME/.xbmc, make sure to fix permissions of copied files

Code: Select all

sudo chmod -R +wr $HOME/.xbmc

Thanks again.
Yes, maybe once I run xbmc as root but I'm quite confident not each time.
But no problem, I fixed files permission. Xbmc starts fine now.

I'm at work now, so this evening I'm going to try to run xbmc with fixed permission on $HOME/.xbmc folder ad I'll update this post.

Thanks

None, my settings are lost but doesn't matter, starting from now I'll run xbmc not with sudo.

At the first start xbmc asked me for a password to check for update, what is it?

I have a problem :( i installed xbmc using instruction on this page . I selected no for starting xbmc by default. and after reboot a login page shows and even though i didn't change default user pass (pi/raspberry) i cannot login! actually screen splashes and login page starts again and wont start the any of sessions.
what should i do? is there a way to start a terminal and remove xbmc?

Since a month ago CEC was working with the samsung tv remote control.
Now the "pheriperial" menĂ¹ in system settings is disable, grey.
How is it possible?

Hi man,
I used your compiled xmbc but now I have a problem with CEC.
So I though to try to compile it.
I followed the guide you suggested https://github.com/xbianonpi/xbian/wiki ... pendencies in this message http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 61#p432961
All is fine.
After a night and more all the pieces are compiled.
I'm a newbie so, now what I have to do to install xbmc ?
In the guide some "add on" like libcec and libshairport were compiled before xbmc, others (PVR Addons,..)after.
The first were automatically included in the xbmc and the last no?

Code: Select all

 wget https://github.com/downloads/RB-tomaz/xbmc-rdp-tomaz/xbmc-rdp-tomaz.armhf.deb
    sudo dpkg -i xbmc-rdp-tomaz.armhf.deb; sudo apt-get -y -f install
But what I got was the scratch IDE!!!!! WTF!!!!!????

Have you checked the date that software was last changed at https://github.com/RB-tomaz/xbmc-rdp-tomaz :?:
Why would you want to download and install that :?: :?:
